Wednesday defender Miguel Llera has said the Owls must continue to play with a high tempo in order to climb the Championship table.
The Owls have posted consecutive wins over Ipswich and Peterborough and in the process risen out of the division’s drop zone.
Both games saw Wednesday score straight from the kick-off; in the first half at Portman Road and immediately after the restart at Hillsborough against the Posh and Llera has put that down to the tempo of the play.
He told swfc.co.uk: “We didn’t start the first half at a high enough tempo and we know how important it is to do that.
“The manager told us at half time to up the tempo if we wanted to win the game. We did that and everyone saw the results straight after kick-off.
“That’s what we need to be doing more of and hopefully we can start like that on Tuesday.”
Ross Barkley’s goal straight after the restart sent Wednesday on their way to victory on Saturday and Llera strengthened the hosts’ grip on the game with his third goal of the season.
Scoring goals is something the defender is pleased to have in his armoury and the Spaniard would be delighted to add to his tally against his former club Blackpool on Tuesday.
“It was my third goal of the season and I was pleased to score,” he said. “A lot of the power I got on the header came from the ball into the box; it was a brilliant cross from Antonio.
“I must give a lot of credit to Michail for that goal.
“I try to help the team in any way I can to get the points, who scores the goals doesn’t matter. The most important thing is that the results are turning for us.
“It was disappointing to concede a late goal because it would have been nice to have two clean sheets in a row but we got the win which was most important.”
